Another bhikku remanded !

(Lanka-e-News, September 05, 2008, 8.40 PM) A Buddhist monk who was accused of forcibly entering with several lay persons into a Hindu temple in Colombo and damaging the idols there was remanded until September 09 .

The remanded Bhikku was Sapugasyaye Dhammananda Thero of Buddhagaya temple of Dimelwaththa in Grandpass, Colombo.

Grandpass police produced the suspect in court yesterday charging that they forcibly entered the Muththumariamman Kovil of Grandpass on September 03 and damaging the idols of Vishnu, Eshwaran, Kali, Ravana and Lakshman. Colombo Additional Magistrate Ajith Anawarathna remanded the bhikku.

Meanwhile, another Buddhist monk has been remanded until September 15 for violating noise pollution regulations.
