Danusha Dilani is a 31year old mother of two children. She resides at 15/18, Rukmal mawatha, Paraththa, Keselwatta. Her husband’s name is Malawiarachchige Mahinda. He is 32 years old. He works in Sri Lanka Transport Board, Panadura.

On 02.04.2010 at around 1.30 am two policemen attache to Panadura North police came to our house by a three wheeler. One was identified as Kotalawala but the others name is not known. But we can identify him after seen. One policeman was in uniforms. These policemen tried to arrest my husband.

My husband told them that he coudn’t come with them because had to go to Bibile to attend some important work. But they didn’t listen to him. They dragged him to the road and tried to put him into the three wheeler by force. My husband begged them and promised to report to the police station next day morning. Instead  of listen to him two policemen assaulted him inhumanly using thier hands and legs.

My husband’s leg was injured due to the severe blows. The policemen took a telephone call to Panadura North police and brought a police jeep. They put my husband into it by force. Both of my two children and I also went to the police station by the same jeep.

After reaching the police station my husband was unconscious. The policemen themselves put some water drops into his face. Only two policemen among the others at the police station were in civilian clothes. They thratened to make my husband jobless and take false medical reports which mentioned that he had a mental illness.

After that they brought my husband to Panadura base hospital. He was admitted in ward number one. My husband reported about the police assault to the doctor who treated him. There was a policeman in the ward to guard him. On 02.04.2010 at around 12pm he was discharged. I came to know that police is going to take him again to the police station after discharge.

A personal dispute with my brother Rayan Pradeep regarding the house where I now reside caused to this illegal act committed by Panadura North police. The police act partial to him and his wishes.
