US missile system to be positioned in Trinco !

Several islands around Trincomalee harbour are to be handed over to the US Department of State on the mediation of a top person in the government states ‘Lanka Irida.’ The newspaper states plans have been drawn to position a missile system in the islands around eh harbor on a project proposed by the CIA. The relevant islands are to be handed over to the USA alleging it is for a joint US-Sri Lankan defense programme. Chapel Island, Norway Point, Foul Point, Great Sober, Elephant Island, Elizabeth Island are some of the small islands that are in and around Trincomalee Harbour. The attempt made by the USA to position a missile system around Trincomalee Harbour in 1978 had to be abandoned due to rigid opposition by India. In 1985 a fleet of a US attack craft with two escort ships with 6000 US soldiers arrived in Sri Lanka and wanted to anchor in Trincomalee Harbour. However, this had to be abandoned due to opposition. SriLankan army, accused for Murasumoaddai massacre on 10 January 2009

BBC interview with Survivors and witnesses of Murasumoaddai massacre said that LTTE not involved in killing, Sri Lankan army “distorted the truth” and denied responsibility of killing innocent civilians, who seek protection into army-controlled area on 09 January 2009. Sri Lankan government defence website blamed that, Seven innocent Tamil civilians including two children, on their way to cleared areas seeking protection for their lives, were gunned down by the LTTE on 10 January. The truth was distorted by Sri Lankan army and accusing LTTE, to denied responsibility of killing. Military retaliated against civilians for intensive LTTE attacks against them in Murasumoaddai. Also saying, none of their fighters were in the area, they only went to spot to save the people, after I escaped without any injuries but I lost my husband. We came into army-controlled areas for safety but I have lost my husband. I don’t know what I am going to do with my two small children. Kantharubi Sivanathan LTTE stop shooting, is not believable. Survivors and witnesses Mrs. Kantharubi Sivanathan said that, the killings occurred close to Murusamoddai area after Sri Lankan army takes full control with observation and deploys for offensive to root out Liberation Tigers of TamilEelam(LTTE) attacks. She further added that, a group of innocent civilians and her recognized Sri Lankan army soliders were lying down, while cross over to army-controlled area, suddenly there were reports of gun fire and we all fell down. A bullet hit my husband and he was instantly killed. Gunfire not stopped for half an hour, amidst everyone was crying and shouting, including children. Injured including children, raised more their voices or screaming. After half an hour, SLA soldiers came up very closely, later all the injured and killed have been shifted to ki’linochchi hospital She further added, i escaped without any injuries, but i have lost my husband.
